CEA Creates Subcommittee To Fix Zoning Use Table
Needham's Council of Economic Advisors voted to form a subcommittee to overhaul the town's commercial zoning use table.
Council of Economic Advisors · Meeting of October 9, 2026
Needham's Council of Economic Advisors voted to form a subcommittee to overhaul the town's commercial zoning use table. Members David Downing, Adam Block, Robert Hentschel and Dina Creiger were appointed to the panel on a unanimous voice vote, with recommendations expected back to the full council by around June 2027. The council also revisited 2023 and 2025-26 parking studies, concluding the town has adequate parking supply but poor signage.
Member Michael Wilcox said an online tax calculator showed the pending Pollard Middle School debt exclusion could add roughly 1.5 percent to property assessments, pushing cumulative commercial tax increases to "about a 30% increase" by 2034. Staff liaison John said town counsel barred using staff time to directly notify businesses of that impact, limiting outreach to the website calculator.
