Building Panel Clears Invoices on Five Projects

Other Committee 2026-09-28 Part 2 · Meeting of September 28, 2026

Needham's Permanent Public Building Committee approved more than $105,000 in invoices across five projects and confirmed a glycol leak inside Fire Station 2's apparatus bay floor. Chair Richard Cream led the roll-call votes, including $54,450 to Weston & Sampson for Fleet Maintenance Facility monitoring tied to an expected $1 million in Eversource and Mass Save grant funding, and $24,726.50 in aggregate technology invoices for the library project. Committee member Barry said lab testing "did test positive for glycol" leaking from the fire station's radiant floor system, one of 10 heating loops, with no project funding currently available for repairs.

The Center at the Heights and Newman Theater upgrades are both running roughly one to two weeks behind schedule due to contractor delays, the same mechanical subcontractor blamed for library project holdups. The library remains stalled on final cabinet hardware from supplier Woodcraft, with the town withholding final payment and retainage as leverage.
