Needham COA approves agenda, presses interview access

Council on Aging · Meeting of September 10, 2026

Needham Council on Aging presses for a voice in filling two open board seats. The board approved its consent agenda unanimously and raised concerns after the Select Board handled a recent Park and Recreation board vacancy, described by members as "very contentious," largely without that board's input. Staff reported securing roughly $250,000 in grants over the past year, including a $20,000 Massachusetts Council on Aging award for the meal program, and detailed a new arrangement buying 60 meals a day from Needham Public Schools.

Staff also described a billing dispute with ride-vendor GoGo, whose accounts have allowed non-medical trips to be charged to the department: "It shows up on their account, Needham Senior Center." Board members separately pressed for weekly updates on the senior center's stalled renovation after residents said "there's been very little updates."
