Regional Health Board Approves Minutes, Reviews Standards Survey
Other Committee 2026-09-22 Part 1 · Meeting of September 22, 2026
NEEDHAM — A four-town public health board found its region meets 79 percent of state public health standards, with waste management the weakest category. The shared services board, covering Dover, Medfield, Needham and Sherborn, unanimously approved three months of minutes on a motion from Kathy Thompson. Scores ranged from 92 percent in water safety down to waste management, which had 11 unmet standards.
Medfield's Board of Health recently rejected a contentious 40B septic application, with Carol telling the board, "I feel like I needed to read the questions before even looking at the results." Sherborn reported two housing projects totaling roughly 242 affordable units advancing after seven years, dependent on Framingham and Natick supplying water and sewer service. Needham announced Town Manager Katie King signed a contract for a new medical director, Dr. Dresser.
The board will deep-dive waste management and tobacco use prevention next meeting.
