Needham assessors rule on dozens of tax abatement bids

Needham Board of Assessors granted and denied dozens of property tax abatement applications after an April 8 executive session. With no public comment offered, the board closed its meeting to discuss confidential real estate and personal property exemption applications, then returned to read results for more than 40 addresses, granting relief at properties including 63 Galen Road and 770 Chestnut while denying it at 9 Thurston Lane and 57 Man Avenue, among others. The reading included several on-the-record corrections, rulings on 309 Mark Street, 551 Greendale Avenue and 95 Highland Avenue were each reversed mid-session, with a staffer identified only as Julie apologizing, "I do apologize, everybody." The board's next meeting is scheduled for April 27.
