NEEDHAM — The Needham Design Review Board approved a rotating public art gallery and new urgent-care signage, and reviewed North Hill's major senior-living expansion. The board voted unanimously to approve the Needham Center Revitalization Trust Fund Committee's long-delayed "Eaton Square Galerie," a wall-mounted gallery near the commuter rail with frames renting for about $350 per 30 days and an estimated 8,000 to 10,000 cars passing daily; the approval requires a timer on the lighting. The board also voted 4-0 to approve replacement signage for American Family Urgent Care at 922 Highland Avenue, conditioned on patching spotty stucco.
Attorney Tim Sullivan of Goulston & Storrs and architect Philippe of DeMilla Schaefer presented North Hill's proposed four-story independent-living building and Farley Building renovation on its 59.5-acre Central Avenue campus, following a May town meeting zoning change raising the site's floor-area ratio from 0.3 to 0.35. Board member Millie pressed on tree removal and ramp accessibility, asking, "Someone might be in walkers and wheelchairs." No vote was taken on North Hill; the Planning Board takes up its special permit amendment November 17.
