Needham panel reviews revised Pollard Middle School construction phasing plan

Needham's School Building Committee reviewed a reworked construction phasing plan for the Pollard Middle School rebuild, with the design team saying a four-year timeline could shrink to roughly three years. Bond Building Construction's Marcus Dowell told Finance Committee member John Conley the team could "do better than two years" on the project's first phase, while architect Matt Leroux detailed a redesign that grows on-site parking from about 125 spaces to 260 and reroutes school buses off Bradford Street and Glenwood Road onto Harris Avenue. A schematic design cost estimate is due May 12, feeding a June 22 committee vote to submit to the Massachusetts School Building Authority.

Separately, the Permanent Public Building Committee, chaired by Richard Crean, approved a $59,537.12 invoice to designer Weston & Sampson and several smaller library-project invoices on unanimous roll-call votes.
