Needham Park and Rec approves two spring event permits unanimously
Other Committee · Meeting of March 16, 2026
Needham Park and Rec approves two spring events, tracks a roughly $1.4 million playground plan. The commission voted 5-0 to permit both the PTC's Spring Fest and an Indian Community of Needham celebration, while deferring votes on two Shabbat-related event permits pending clarification of whether they are religious ceremonies or celebrations. Staff reported program revenue of $74,000 and $366,000 in combined winter-spring registrations since December 1.
Needham Baseball and Softball pledged $20,000 to match the commission's prior $20,000 commitment, bringing $40,000 for work at seven fields. A related playground project, still under Community Preservation Committee review, could go before town meeting after this week's expected committee vote, with construction eyed for June if approved.
