Needham Technology Advisory Board Votes to Enter Cybersecurity Executive Session

NEEDHAM -- March 26, 2026, Needham's Technology Advisory Board voted unanimously to enter executive session to review town cybersecurity systems at its March 26 meeting. Vice Chair Carl Rubin presided in the chair's absence, and the board used an AI transcription tool called Fireflies in lieu of a secretary to capture open-session minutes. The interim CTO reported two milestones: the hiring of a project manager for the town's MUNIS ERP software upgrade, who began work March 24, and the recent execution of a contract with Highway Technologies for a new ERP platform expected to integrate town and school operations over the next 24 months. The CTO also noted the IT department is now fully staffed across all allocated positions, describing it as one of only a few times that milestone has been reached during his tenure, crediting the town's IT consolidation, approved at Town Meeting approximately two years ago, with enabling improved response times across most non-public-safety departments.
