At its final meeting before a September hiatus, the commission voted unanimously to approve an $800 charge against its operating budget for food supplies purchased at Restaurant Depot in support of Wiener Wednesday, a free Veterans of Foreign Wars community meal event in Needham serving veterans and the general public; the VFW covered an additional $80 to reach the $880 total receipt. Members also reviewed a draft restaurant accessibility resource developed by commission member Maureen with student Marina Ganetsky, who has aphasia, and agreed to reformat the guide into a double-sided 8.5-by-11 layout to improve readability before piloting it at local restaurants including Common Room and Cook. On the ongoing accessibility complaint at 283 Chestnut Street, the ADA liaison reported that the town's building commissioner has assigned a local building inspector to review the permitting, with the investigation still pending contractor cost documentation.
