Needham's Select Board and Park and Recreation Commission agreed to hold open interviews Aug. 24 for a vacant Park and Recreation Commission seat. The subcommittee, made up of Select Board member Josh and Park and Recreation Commission representative Michelle, set an application deadline of 5 p.m. Aug. 7 and plans to interview candidates for five to ten minutes each at the commission's 7 p.m. meeting.
A staff member identified as Miles cited a 2022 precedent in which then-Vice Chair Marcus Nelson represented the Select Board at Library Board of Trustees interviews. Michelle said the commission is down to four members and wants the seat filled "by beginning of September." The full Select Board and commission plan a joint vote Sept. 8.
