Needham's Select Board got a clean fiscal 2025 audit opinion Tuesday, despite a repeat finding on delayed cash reconciliations. CBIZ CPAs shareholder Rebecca Gamsby reported a net pension liability of $63.7 million, 80 percent funded, and a net OPEB liability of $59.3 million. The board voted 4-1 to use Chapter 90 state road funds for a new townwide sidewalk condition inventory and unanimously backed letters supporting the MWRA's $1.29 billion regional sewer overflow plan.
Members also voted to offer a floor amendment narrowing the town's tree protection bylaw ahead of Monday's special town meeting, after a motion to withdraw the article for more study failed for lack of a second. Resident Holly Clark told the board she felt the town's Pollard tax calculator was engaging in "a little bit of hide the ball" by adding an average-cost display.
