NEEDHAM — The Needham Park and Recreation Commission voted to reappoint Commissioner Jim as its Community Preservation Committee liaison and approved several fall and 2027 special-event permits. Staff member Hannah reported the town pool closes Sunday after an extended season that added adult and adaptive swim lessons. Commissioners discussed resident complaints over a roughly 33 percent jump in some field fees since 2024, with one commissioner saying the panel should evaluate "a percentage of increases year over year" rather than flat dollar jumps.

The commission also reviewed a five-page letter from a youth baseball and softball organization, also sent to the Select Board and town manager, raising concerns over limited 90-foot diamonds and the earlier conversion of McLeod Field to softball use, with one commissioner saying "they're really upset about that diamond situation." No vote was taken on the letter or the fee structure.
