Needham Select Board votes 4-1 to back $325.4 million Pollard Middle School borrowing article.
Select Board · Meeting of September 22, 2026
Needham Select Board votes 4-1 to back $325.4 million Pollard Middle School borrowing article. One member objected that the design falls short of Massachusetts School Building Authority standards, including a media center 3,006 square feet undersized and no dedicated locker rooms; supporters said rejecting it would forfeit $80 million in state reimbursement. The board also passed a tree protection bylaw 4-1, endorsed Planning Board zoning limits capping flat-roof heights at 27 feet and attic space at 50 percent of second-floor area, raised the senior property tax deferral income cap from $51,000 to $75,000, and adopted a licensing policy for transient precious-metals buyers.
Three articles, on digital legal notices, wetlands protection and a South Street land taking, were pulled from the October 19 special town meeting warrant for further work.
