Stephen Palmer Review Committee Dissolves After Final Meeting

Needham dissolves Stephen Palmer redevelopment panel after school committee keeps parcel. The Stephen Palmer Development Review Committee held its final meeting July 27, closing out after the Select Board voted to dissolve it following the School Committee's decision roughly two weeks earlier to retain the vacant Stephen Palmer property rather than pursue redevelopment. Committee members Sue, Cindy, Margaret, Allie and Michaela, along with Chair Marianne, thanked town staff and consultants for the planning work; the town expects to return about $42,000 of a $101,000 contract with Bear Group and Gamble Associates, having spent $58,000.
Select Board Chair Heidi called the effort "very much appreciated by the town." Member Sue said "it really is unfortunate that we didn't dot the I's, cross the T's" before displaced tenants were asked to vacate. Officials are eyeing a fiscal 2028 town-wide facilities master plan, the town's first since 2014.
