Needham assessors board fills field assessor post
Other Committee · Meeting of September 10, 2026
Needham Board of Assessors fills field assessor vacancy, heads into closed session. Meeting Thursday, the board first amended draft minutes from its August 21 session, striking property-specific financial detail, including an income-and-expense-form reference and an FY25 figure, before approving them unanimously. A staff presenter told the board a candidate has been selected for the long-open field assessor position, expected to start around October 5, but declined to give a name, saying, "I don't want to say his name just yet until HR reaches out." The presenter said the hire previously worked for a larger municipality, noting, "Alone, they're used to dealing with 30,000 parcels," compared with Needham's roughly 11,000.
A second posting, for an assistant assessor, is expected in about two weeks. The board then voted unanimously to enter executive session to discuss confidential exemption and abatement applications, with no return to open session before adjourning.
