Needham board continues Highland Avenue sign permit case
Other Committee · Meeting of March 9, 2026
Needham Design Review Board continues gas station sign permit case after applicant arrives without documents. Chair Mark Glusing voted with members Steve Dornbush and Felix Zimmel, 3-0, to continue the special permit hearing for 1032 Highland Avenue to March 23. The applicant, identified as Mr.
Akar, said signs were swapped at the property after a contractor told him no permit was needed, an account Glusing disputed, noting corner lots are allowed only two signs by right. Glusing told the applicant's team, "We need something to look at and discuss here together." Staff liaison Elisa Litchman said she still needs a separate application and photo for each individual sign before the case can move forward.
