Needham CPC OKs January hearing, hears housing update
Other Committee · Meeting of September 16, 2026
Needham Community Preservation Committee hears $41 million funding win for Linden Terrace housing rebuild. Chair Dave Herr's panel learned the $65 million redevelopment, backed by $5.5 million in town construction funding, secured a second-round state award announced by the Lieutenant Governor, with groundbreaking targeted for February 1 and completion by fall 2028. Separately, the town's $20 million Seabeds Way renovation, backed by $4 million in town Community Preservation Act grants and partner Cambridge Housing Authority, is expected to close in November.
Members approved their June 10 minutes by roll call and set January 13, 2027 for the committee's next public application workshop, after debating whether an earlier date would help or "give people a quick turnaround." The committee also heard updates on a pending $800,000 Cartwright Road conservation land purchase and plans to promote its November 2 application deadline at the town's October 4 Harvest Fair.
