Panel sets September timeline for trust funds seat

Select Board · Meeting of August 12, 2026

Needham's Select Board subcommittee and Board of Commissioners of Trust Funds set a timeline to fill a vacant trust funds seat. The joint subcommittee, including Select Board member Josh and commissioners Julia and Daniel, agreed to post the opening this month, accept applications through Sept. 4 and hold public Zoom interviews the evening of Sept. 9. Daniel warned that recording candidate interviews "has a chilling effect that I don't like," but the group concluded, in Josh's words, "we may have no practical choice but to do the Zooms with the recording." Staff member Miles offered to script and time-manage the roughly 10-to-15-minute interviews.

A joint appointment vote by the full Select Board and Board of Commissioners of Trust Funds is targeted for Sept. 22 at 6 p.m.
